Amazon MP3 Android app update saves battery and data

If your Android phone shipped with the Amazon MP3 app pre-installed, you may have found yourself frustrated by a couple things. First, it's not so easy to remove. Second, the app had a nasty habit of starting up automatically when you power on or reboot your phone whether you wanted it to or not -- making the fact that you can't remove it even more vexing.

Fortunately, Amazon has finally pushed an updated Amazon MP3 app to the Android Market and the startup bug has now been fixed. Installing the new version will free up a little bit of memory and processor headroom on your Android device, possibly give you a bit more battery life, and -- most importantly -- give you control over when it fires up.

The updated app also adds an option to resume downloads. It's disabled by default, so head to the settings screen if you want to flip the switch.Amazon MP3 Android app update saves battery and data originally appeared on Download Squad on Wed, 09 Feb 2011 07:30:00 EST.
